Trip Information

Richie Outfitters will prearrange your back country flight ahead of time. Just call a week before your hunt and touch base with the pilot. Let him know who you are hunting with and how many are in your party, because he does fly for other hunters. You should also check in the evening before your flight in case of bad weather or fires. If you stay in Missoula you will need to rent a car and drive to Hamilton, MT which is just 60 miles south. Please be in Hamilton, MT the evening before your flight. It is also a good Idea to bring a lunch for the first day in, sometimes it can be a long day to camp depending on where everyone is going.

A note of thanks as I reflect this morning. Thank you for your passion for the wilderness. Thank you for the care and concern you show for those who share your love. Thank you for taking Connie into camp. There was nowhere she would have rather been. She recognized your love and care for the land, the animals both wild and working and she had great respect for that. Thank you for the love you hold for the forest and the Sellway in particular. The kinship in those things runs deep and I too know the sadness you feel at the loss of our sister and Ace. My dad and mom adopted Connie some 25+ years ago when she came to Idaho from Iowa. As long time hosts at the ranger station dads photos and stories of his time in the back country fueled Connie's imagination and passion to find it's peace and discover it's serenity. She truly became a student of it's majesty and allure. So many people benefitted from her dedication to it's sanctity including my children who she took under her wing as she so easily did so many and took a lifelong interest in them. She became my sister and I am always grateful to see her face, share in her laughter and hear her latest story of some projects she was working on or her latest antic with her beloved mules who were her best friends. I take great solace now knowing that she is exactly where she would want and choose to be and have no doubt whatsoever that she enjoyed the awe and wonder and magnificence and surprise that the forest and it's surrounding sanctity filled her with even in her final hours. I thank the Universal Wisdom that made our paths cross. She was a gift to us all. I'll see her in the clear waters of the river, hear her laughter in the wind among the forest trees,. See her footsteps in the dust of the trail and hold her in my heart each time I stroke the warm softness of a horse's or mules nose. I am grateful for having her touch my heart as I'm sure she touched yours. Though we've not met, I wish you peace, my friends. Know you are appreciated in ways you don't even know. I'm grateful for your spirit and for the love and passion you possess. We have been blessed by knowing this special lady. She'd want you to carry on and all's as it is supposed to be. Peace be with you and rest from your weary travels!! In gratitude.... thank you!

Richie OutfittersSuch neat stories ! This lady was Amazing and for any of you that are worried about her age, she had over 70 free falls and Mike and her were planning a jump in the spring and I am quiet sure she would be the one pushing Mike out of the plane! not the other way around!!

She loved the wilderness and I know that's where she felt peace. She was a wonderful, lovely lady! I will never forget how she would run down the hall in her high heels without skipping a beat. And how she loved switching from those heels to hiking boots. 😞😢
